legaladvice As little as two drinks in less than an hour can cause a driver to be legally impaired under the current Alabama DUI law.  Many times, good people use poor judgment and find themselves in a confusing and dangerous legal situation.  Without proper guidance, one episode of poor judgment can have severe consequences for drivers arrested for DUI in Alabama.

An arrest for Driving Under the Influence in the State of Alabama can severely damage your life.  The arrest causes a person to loose their license, pay high fines, and spend time in jail.  In some cases, when people loose their license, they can loose their job as well.  An attorney working on your behalf can help you try to avoid the consequences and penalties associated with a DUI arrest and conviction.  Attorney Byron M. Richardson works directly with his clients to help them put forth a strategy together to defend their case and lessen the impact of the arrest in the client’s life.

At Richardson Law Offices, LLC we offer an initial phone or email conversation to discuss with you the consequences of your DUI arrest.

DUI & Driving Under The Influence:
DUI Conviction Penalty :
Juan, 31, of Birmingham, Alabama: First conviction, three years' formal probation, $2,323 fine, 20 days in jail, first-offender drinking-driver program, driver's license restricted.

United States DUI Stats :
All 50 states now have two statutory offenses[1]. The first is the traditional offense, variously called driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI), driving while intoxicated/impaired (DWI) or operating while intoxicated/impaired (OWI). The second and more recent is the so-called illegal per se offense of driving with a blood-alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.08% (previously 0.10%) or higher. The first offense requires proof of intoxication, although evidence of BAC is admissible as rebuttably presumptive evidence of that intoxication; the second requires only proof of BAC at the time of being in physical control of a motor vehicle. An accused may be convicted of both offenses, but may only be punished for one.

Alabama SR-22 DUI Penalty :
An SR-22 is an official documentation required to redeem a suspended drivers license and get your car registered at the local department of Vehicles (DMV). A SR22 Filing is a form issued by an insurance company which removes a suspension order placed by the DMV's office on your driving privilege. The most common reason for an SR22 filing is when you are arrested for Driving Under Intoxication (DUI) or Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). The filing provides a guarantee to the state that an insurance company has issued at least minimum liability coverage for the person making that filing and that the insurance company will notify the DMV should the insurance ever lapse for any reason.
