DUI Attorney General :
Attorney General Troy King said he had considered appealing the ruling to the state Supreme Court but that the appellate court's findings made an appeal unlikely to succeed. Instead, King will ask the Legislature next year to change the law.

History

Named for Leeds, England, which also has a neighbouring city named Birmingham, Leeds was incorporated on April 27, 1887. Its success as a young city came about through three major factors: the incorporation of nearby Birmingham and the beginning of iron ore production there; the building of the Georgia Pacific Railway from Birmingham to Atlanta; and the construction of a Standard Portland Cement manufacturing plant in 1906. The city recently broke away from the Jefferson County school system and initiated its own Leeds City school system. Leeds is poised to make a leap forward in development and population as the eastward population shift continues into Jefferson and St. Clair counties. Leeds has also benefited from the recent addition of the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum and Racetrack and a highly anticipated Bass Pro Shops Outlet that is expected to be completed by summer 2007. Both of these developments are expected to become magnets for visitors and sources of income, as well as significantly increasing the profile for the city.

DUI & Driving Under The Influence:
DUI Conviction Example :
Joseph, 21, of Montgomery, Alabama: First conviction, three years' formal probation, $2,323 fine, two days in jail, first-offender drinking-driver program, driver's license restricted.

.08 Standard DUI :
The .08 standard, while it looks good because it snares more people, did snarl up the regional jail system. And it didn't necessarily take the most dangerous chronic drunk drivers off the road or cut the death toll.

Federal DUI Regulations :
Federal Air Regulation 91.17 (14 CFR 91.17) prohibits pilots from flying aircraft with an alcohol level of 0.04% or more, and/or within eight hours of consuming alcohol, and/or while under the impairing influence of any drug.[3] The same prohibition applies to any other crewmembers on duty aboard the aircraft (flight attendants, etc.). Some airlines impose additional restrictions, and many pilots also impose stricter standards upon themselves. Commercial pilots found to be in violation of regulations are typically fired or resign voluntarily, and they may lose their pilot certificates and/or be subject to criminal prosecution under Federal or State laws, effectively ending their careers.
