Mountain Brook, Alabama

Mountain Brook is a city in Jefferson County, Alabama . As of the 2000 census, the population of the city is 20,604. Mountain Brook is a particularly affluent suburb of Birmingham, and was the 17th wealthiest city in the United States in 2002.

Mountain Brook was originally developed in 1929 by local developer Robert Jemison as an extensive residential subdivision. The plans, by Boston-based landscape architect Warren H. Manning called for estate-sized lots along winding scenic roads and denser commercial development centering on three "villages", called "English Village", "Mountain Brook Village" and "Crestline Village". Nature preserves on the adjacent slopes protected the area from urban encroachment and bridle paths created a recreational network within the development.

Mountain Brook is the hometown of Friends actress Courteney Cox and is home to Natalee Holloway, who has been missing since May 30, 2005 when she was travelling on a senior class trip to Aruba with 124 other classmates from Mountain Brook High School.

DUI & Driving Under The Influence:
Speak about DUIs :
We are all aware of the dangers involved and risks that are taken when people consume alcohol and get behind the wheel. Unfortunately, for some, adhering to the message has required harsh penalties such as loss of driving privileges and hefty fines, or even jail terms.

DUI Jurisdictions :
Many jurisdictions require more serious penalties (such as jail time, larger fines, longer DUI program, the installation of ignition interlock devices) in cases where the driver's BAC is over 0.20, or 0.15 in some places. These additional sanctions are an attempt to deter and punish the operation of a vehicle at extremely high BAC levels and the concomitant danger posed to the safety of persons and property by heavily impaired drivers. In many cases, the reason given for these additional sanctions is because an average person would have passed out from that much alcohol.

Alabama DUI Future :
And in what kind of absurd universe would a responsible legislative body consider, say, three DUI convictions in five years no cause for serious concern? No more than two in 10 years would seem more reasonable.
