New Alabama Law Involving Methamphetamine |

A
north Alabama couple indicted in the death of their infant daughter is
believed to be the first in the state charged under a new law.
It’s aimed at people cooking methamphetamine around children.
Twenty-five-year-old
William neighbors and 24-year-old Melissa Little, both of Odenville in
Saint Clair County were charged with chemical endangerment of a child.
The district attorney said the couple's 15-month-old daughter, Melissa, died after ingesting or inhaling methadone.
The substance is normally used to treat drug addicts.
The new law went into effect June 1 and the child died June 5.
Chemical endangerment is a class "A" felony.
If convicted, the penalty is ten years to life in prison.
