The statistics range from the past three fiscal years, which run from July 1 to June 30. In each fiscal year, total arrests, including DUI arrests, have increased, while motor vehicle accidents have gone down. While 183 total accidents were recorded in year one, only 116 were recorded in year three, a 37 percent difference. During that same time, 154 DUI arrests were recorded in year one, contrasted to 235 in year three, a difference of 34 percent.

DUI & Driving Under The Influence:
Alabama DUI Statistics :
In 2006, more people died on Alabama roads than during any other year in over three decades. Not all of those fatalities were caused by drunk drivers, but the state must get the worst drivers off the road first and then go after others whose presence constitutes a threat to public safety.

DUI Driving Drunk :
But the law was changed and changed again - strengthened, in fact, to be less tolerant of multiple convictions. But a provision that stipulated four convictions in five years was inadvertently left in. The high court indicated that it had little choice. It could not consider seven convictions in 15 years as constituting four in five years.

DUI - DWI - ODWI? :
Unlike DUI, DWI, or OWUI cases that involve alcohol, there is generally no per se or legal limit that is employed for persons accused of driving under the influence of prescription medication or illicit drugs (although this is not the case in Ohio[citation needed]). Instead, the key inquiry focuses on whether the driver's faculties were impaired by the substance that was consumed. The detection and successful prosecution of drivers impaired by prescription medication or illegal drugs can therefore be difficult.
